In this post I want to talk about very popular greeting we use — “Happy New Year”. Lately , I came to realize that this greeting is not a well thought one.

In fact in my opinion this is also inappropriate way of welcoming a new year!!

What is wrong with it?

This greeting tells that we are not ready to accept “New” as it is, it has to be “happy”.Somewhere in our mind, we have a definition of “Happy”, and we want “New ” to unfold as per that definition.

But world doesn't work that way!!

In real life, “New” will be always full of surprises! Surprises of all kinds. It always unexpected , nobody can guess it. Thats the beauty of new.

Whats my point?

If you are looking for only Happy surprises, you are going to be disappointed.

Embrace “New” in all its beauty.

Don’t put a condition of “Happy” on a “New Year”. Expect “new” year/month/day to be happy and sad both. You never know what is packed for you in future, You will face tough time and good time both. You will meet people who likes you and people who dont like you.

Enjoy the happy time as much as the sad time, thats the message I would pass. I would greet “Enjoy New Year”! and not “Happy New Year”!

Where else this can be seen?

A lot of places!

This approach wont stop on a new year greeting. You will take this approach every where.

Relationships

You will expect people( who were sober to you yesterday) to be good with you tomorrow . Even if their opinion about you changed (which will always change) , you would want them to be as loving and respectful to you as they were in past.

Some cases you wont notice it, other cases you will notice. You may react and complain. If person it too close (spouse, parent or kid), they may start faking the respect, just because you enjoy it too much.

You can think about consequences.

Work

You would expect your business/colleague/customers to be supportive. You will not be happy if they change sides. You will be disappointed, when they dont go as per your plan.

There are many more examples, but I will skip them. I wish I could write this post better, but my grip on english is not so good. I hope I am able to pass the message.

Cheers!
